Getting started

This is a getting started page for the plugin Towns and Nations (later only TaN). For more detailed information about various parts of the plugin, check out other pages on this wiki.

Menus

Many, and by many I mean most, things in TaN are done trough the GUI. To open the GUI, type /tan gui into chat. If you don't speak English, you can set your language of choice in gui->Your Profile->Language. While you are in here, you can also check your balance by hovering over the gold ingot and set your timezone. You will need money to create a town or a region but the way of obtaining that money may vary from server to server. The best practice is to ask your server owner, he will probably know the answer.

Creating or joining a town

If you have enough money and are ready to create a town, start by opening the TaN gui. Then you need to click on Town and Create a new town. After that you will be prompted in chat to enter the town's name. Doing that will result in the town's creation.

If you don't want to create a town but to join one, you can do that by clicking on Town and Join a town. You will be shown a town list where you can choose which town to join. If your friend has a town and wants to invite you, he can do that by typing /tan invite <username>.

Now it's onto you! Will you conquer the world or play peacefully? Start by exploring and experimenting with the town menu. You can deposit money into the town's bank by clicking on Treasury and then right clicking on Make a donation. After that you will be prompted to enter the amount. To claim chunks type /tan claim town to claim each chunk manually or /tan autoclaim town to claim every chunk you walk trough. To stop this type /tan autoclaim stop. To view your claimed area, type /tan map.

Creating or joining a region

To create or join a region, you must own a town. By joining a town that has a region, you automagically join the region. To create a new region, you will need to have at least 7500 dollars (by default) in your town's bank. If you have the money, type /tan gui and click on Region. Then click on Create a new region and type the name of the region into chat.

To join a region, you will need a town. The region leader must then click on Hierarchy->Town List->+ choose your town. You need to click onto Hierarchy->Browse suzerain invitation and accept the invitation.

To claim chunks, you must have money in your region's bank. The command for manual claiming is /tan claim region and for automatic it's /tan autoclaim region (/tan autoclaim stop to stop).

The best practice after setting up your town and region is to explore the menus and try things out! If you're not sure about something, check out the wiki. More pages are comming :)
