briefcase-medicalGetting Started

This is a getting started page for the plugin Towns and Nations (later only TaN). For more detailed information about various parts of the plugin, check out other pages on this wiki.

For admins

Installing TaN

Installing the Towns and Nations is easy, just drag the latest version of the plugin along with the latest version of SphereLib and Vault into the plugins folder in your server's directory.(Note: to run TaN, you need to have Paper or Spigot installed) After you've done that, be sure to restart the server. You can find all the files here:

TaN uses economy, thus an economy plugin supporting Vault (most of them support Vault) is recommended. To check if TaN is installed, just run the /plugins command. If TownsAndNations is colored red or missing, check the logs or reach out to us on discordarrow-up-right.

Configuring TaN

To configure TaN, open the /plugins/TownsAndNations/config.yml file in a text editor of your choice. (Note: this file is generated only after you restart the server with TaN installed) It is highly recommended that you read the whole file as some settings are quite important. This guide will not go trough the whole file but here are some important things to check out:

  • onlineMode - set to false if you have a cracked server

  • UseTanEconomy - set to false if you use any other economy plugin

  • EnableWar and other war-related settings in general

  • claimBlacklist - customize chunks where players can claim chunks After making changes to the config file, reload the plugin in-game using /tanadmin reload

TaN has multiple extentions, most of them are used for displaying territories on an online map like Dynmap. (You can check out the maps and demos herearrow-up-right.) TaN supports the following map plugins:

Other TaN extentions include TaN-DiscordSrvarrow-up-right used for relaying info from TaN into a discord channel and TaN-Flightarrow-up-right by Stark.

TaN permissions

It is recommended that you use a permission plugin like LuckPerms along with TaN. To allow players to use all of TaN content, assign them the tan.base.* permission. To allow admins to moderate TaN, assign them the tan.admin.* permission. The entire list of permissions can be found here

That's it, you've succesfully installed and configured TaN! Enjoy!
